From task to selection

Which robot fits your task?

Four choices help identify what to compare and clarify before purchase or integration. Choose “Not sure yet” when needed.

1. What do you need to do?
2. Where will it work?
3. What stage are you at?
4. Do you need to change its behavior?

Your next step

Choose a task to see suggested next steps. A specific model is assessed against application requirements.

How this guide works

This is MALONI task-based orientation methodology, not a manufacturer ranking. We do not estimate prices, returns or capabilities without evidence. Technical facts, sources and unknown values are shown in the linked comparisons.

  • Machine tending and production handling — For a repeated operation at one station, first compare arms against the workpiece, tooling and workspace.
  • Palletizing and package handling — Arm payload alone is insufficient. Selection also depends on package dimensions, pallet height and transfer frequency.
  • Robotics education and lab equipment — First decide whether you are teaching kinematics, programming, vision or mobility. One platform may not cover everything.
  • Humanoid research, development or pilot — Base and development variants can differ in interface access. The comparison separates documented facts from unknowns.
  • Mobile robotics, inspection or navigation — Platform shape alone does not establish traversability or autonomy. Define the route and control mode before a specific model.
  • I already have a robot and need programming — Assessing programming requires the exact model, software version and available interfaces. New hardware may not be necessary.
