Cobot

Cobot is a term for a robot intended for collaborative applications. Collaboration safety is assessed for the complete workplace, not just the robot arm.

How it works

Depending on the design and application, measures may include motion monitoring, force limiting or a controlled stop. Tooling, workpieces and surrounding equipment affect the risks.

Where to start

For machine tending or handling, compare reach, the combined tool and part weight, required cycle time and available space before selecting a model.

Limits and what to verify

A cobot does not automatically permit operation without protective measures. A sharp tool, trapping point or hot workpiece may change the workplace design.

Before requesting a quote

Provide a workplace sketch, workpiece details and target cycle with your inquiry. The OSHA source provides technical background; it does not replace assessment of local requirements or the specific application.
